Our annual poster competition is open to all African illustrators. Design an illustrated poster that brings to life this year’s theme ‘Power to the Pixel’. Bring power to your afro-futurist vision and our our iconic use of hands. We invite you to join the list of extraordinary creatives who have brought the vision of the festival alive: Sindiso Nyoni in 2017 – @sindiso , Sonwabo Valashiya in 2018 – @blackvillagekid, Liegh Le Roux in 2019 – @leighleroux who’s work was digital augmented by poetess Miss Emmah @emmah_mabye
The Winning Poster becomes the featured image for 2020, and scores a cash prize. Runners up get exposure through a feature article, profiling and exhibition of entries.

- Your poster should be A2 portrait size.
- Set up as vector artwork.
- Incorporate hands.
- Use the 2020 palette colours and Fakugesi circuit-board texture and iconic lightning bolt.
- Submit as a pdf and include the words: ‘power to the pixel’.
- Include a 1 page rationale. *Rationale must be one page max and include name and contact details, a single line about yourself, plus a thumbnail of your artwork.
